I need to prevent all users on a PC from unticking use a proxy in internet explorer (Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings->Proxy server-> 'Use a proxy server for your LAN'). At present they can go into the settings in IE and untick this thereby bypassing the Proxy. I know how to force the use of a proxy in the local group policy settings but this can be bypassed following the steps outlined above. Is it possible to grey out this tick box for all users even if they have local admin rights?

Turn off access to the item in the Group Policy.

Within GPEdit.msc navigate to Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Internet Explorer / Internet Control Panel.

Then Disable the Connections Page.

Hi, I've tried this but unfortunately the option is still available and can be changed. Any ideas why?

Did you reboot the PC after you have made the changes? It does not happen straight away.

Sorry your first suggestion was correct, my problem was that I disabled this policy, I should have enabled it. Worked a treat. Many thanks.
