virus and malware free machine?
try applying the default xp theme from desktop properties
failing that...create a new user account and check from there

if still no luck, then the system fonts are being corrupted.....you will have to repair xp

I tried with an other profile and got the same squares...
Example: text from the buttons in preview mode of Paint appears as squares.
There's a LOT of softwares installed on this machine (with an updated Antivirus).
Is there a way to reinstall system fonts wihtout repairing XP?
