Cisco 1600 Router

I upgraded Flash in this router to 16MB card. Then using XMODEM I loaded flash image. But now the Router is getting into loops, as shown in the following text capture. Please help me in getting back to rommon prompt, or suggest some solution to fix this issue. Thanks.

Sounds like you upgraded the Flash to support a newer IOS image but you didn't upgrade the RAM as well to support the image.

What should I do now, and how to do it?

For now, you can CTRL-Break into ROMMON and TFTP the old IOS image back onto the router until you get additional RAM for the router to support the new IOS.

When the router first boots, in Hyperterminal, press CTRL-Break until you see the ROMMON prompt.  Next, type "set" and you will see the variables set.  Use the variable options to set the IP address, mask, gateway (if applicable), TFTP server IP address and the old IOS image name (or an image that the router supports with the current amount of memory) that resides on the TFTP server.  You then type tftpdnld to begin the download process.

I get the following error:

Okay, sorry about that, it looks like the 1600 is a little different.  You can either do it via TFTP or xmodem.  See the following for step by step instructions.

I used the XMODEM to reload the Flash image. While erasing this error incurred:

Then I got the Router(boot)> prompt. I configured IP address on e0 interface and then downloaded running-config from a TFTP server. Then I entered sh flash, and I git this:

ATCO-Internet-Barclay(boot)>sh flash

Now flash image seems to be corrupt, and I can't erase it. Please advise further action. Thanks.

Maybe you have bad flash memory.  Maybe try reseating the memory.

In addition to a bigger Flash memory, I needed RAM. After installing RAM, router is working fine. Thanks for help.
