Remote Registry Service is generally installed by default. There is no uninstall or easy uninstall for it.

Are you certain that the files have been deleted?

Check to see if the service is there as maybe it is just turned off, set as disable. It might be as  simple as setting the Remote Registry Service back to Automatic and starting it up on that remote computer.

    Just a thought.

Yes, i know that, but in this case, the service was intentionally removed from the system, so, can i do something for revert this situacion?

WOW! You have a headache as it is part of svchost.exe and a bunch of registry settings.

Do not know what OS you are using. 2000, 2000 server, 2003, XP home pro etc.

Here is a link to a forum on the subject.

A link to MS Support on svchost.exe

You should have (in XP Pro) a registry entry under

which should have a lot of info and looks like:

    Value 0
      Name:            Description
      Type:            REG_SZ
Data:            Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer. If this service is stopped, the registry can be modified only by users on this computer. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

    Value 1
      Name:            DependOnService
      Type:            REG_MULTI_SZ
      Data:            RPCSS

    Value 2
      Name:            DisplayName
      Type:            REG_SZ
      Data:            Remote Registry

    Value 3
      Name:            ErrorControl
      Type:            REG_DWORD
      Data:            0x1

    Value 4
      Name:            ImagePath
      Type:            REG_EXPAND_SZ
      Data:            %SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalService

    Value 5
      Name:            ObjectName
      Type:            REG_SZ
      Data:            NT AUTHORITY\LocalService

    Value 6
      Name:            Group
      Type:            REG_SZ

    Value 7
      Name:            Start
      Type:            REG_DWORD
      Data:            0x2

    Value 8
      Name:            Type
      Type:            REG_DWORD
      Data:            0x20

    Value 9
      Name:            FailureActions
      Type:            REG_BINARY

You should also find svchost.exe in your system32 directory. It is used a lot.

This about the end of my technical expertise but I do hope I helped get you started in a good direction.

As a final thought, you might try a Windows repair from the original installation CD. There are two types of repair available. One is obvious the other is not.

Well.. the solution has a few steps:

    1) Copy from another computer whith Win XP the C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvc.dll file and paste in your coputer in the same route.

    2) Add the follow registry entry:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

"Description"="Habilita usuarios remotos para que modifiquen la configuración del Registro en este equipo. Si se detiene este servicio, cualquier usuario en este equipo puede modificar el Registro. Si este servicio está deshabilitado, cualquier servicio que explícitamente dependa de él no podrá iniciarse."
    "DisplayName"="Registro remoto"
    "ObjectName"="NT AUTHORITY\\LocalService"

    3) Add RemoteRegistry data in the follow registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost
      Name:           LocalService
      Type:            REG_MULTI_SZ
Data:            Alerter WebClient LmHosts RemoteRegistry upnphost SSDPSRV

    4) Restart the computer, the service will be apear in de Service list and will be started.

I know this is an old topic.
But I have the same problem, I need to use this service for installing Trend Micro on clients but the clients don't have 'Remote Registry service' installed.
Now I have tried the sollution givin by 'ArgenINTA'.
But when I try to start the service (doesn't start automatic) I get the error:
Could not start the Registry remote serve on Local Computer.
Error 1083: THe executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service'.

    Any suggestions ?'
