Greetings egrantier !

Add the hard drive as a slave to a working computer.  Get the Outlook data PST file from the slave drive. PST file is located in drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder.

It is a hidden file, so you have to unhide hidden files. Open Windows Explorer folder and select Tools > Folders Options > View. Check "Show hidden files and folders". Click OK.

You may need to take ownsership of folders and files to access them.

Hope this helps, war1

egrantier,

I am not sure what you are asking.  If the computer reformat the hard drive and resintall the OS, and you are able to open Outlook, it will automatically create a PST file.  But your Outlook and other data will be lost if you do not backup the PST file and other data.

Yes, Egrantier.

If you create an Outlook profile then the pst is where your e-mails are stored. If you have received any e-mails atleast.

War1 is correct.
