Using WDS

How does wireless distribution system work.  I have two routers WDS capable:
1st one is speedtouch 585 connected to phne DSL
2nd one is US Robotics USR5461
I want to used the 2nd one to extend wireless netwrk to more devices.

WDS allows you to create a bridge or a repeater. Sounds like what you want to do is to repeat the signal to extend the reach of your network. Unfortunatley,
there is no guarantee that 2 devices of differing manufacturers will work together as there are no IEEE standards for implementing WDS so each one is not exactly the same. This is done on purpose sometimes too, so you have to buy two of the same brand.....Marketing you know!  There are some so-called Universal repeaters out their that they say will repeat any signal,, but then again, i don't guarantee that either.
