Stop syslog.log in HP-UNIX

Can you help me to stop siglog in HP-UX?
It happens I have a sysconf like this:
# syslogd configuration file.
#
# See syslogd(1M) for information about the format of this file.
#
mail.debug              /var/adm/syslog/mail.log
*.info;mail.none        /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
*.info;mail.none        /tmp/syslog.log
*.alert                 /dev/console
*.alert                 root
*.emerg                 *
So, it's recording 2 syslog.log files. I  ave delete the above line for /tmp, but I do not know to stop and
re-start the  syslogd to use the new configuration?

Who is Participating?

The goal here is to get syslogd to recognise the updated syslog.conf file.

All versions of syslog will do this by sending SIGHUP to the syslogd process, hence

kill -1 <pid of syslogd>

is a better option than stopping/starting syslogd.

hi,
# /sbin/init.d/syslogd stop
# /sbin/init.d/syslogd start

Or

kill -1 <pid of syslogd>

Well it happens that in HP-UX the command  syslogd stop/start is not implemented.
Reading some doc I think it could be syslogd -d (turning debug ON) but not sure.
