How to install the Microsoft bluetooth driver?

Last Modified: 2013-12-14
Hi experts,

I have a Mobile Action MA-700 bluetooth USB adapter. I would like to use Microsoft's own bluetooth driver for this, however, when I uninstall the adapter and reinstall the drivers again, I cannot install Microsoft's own driver - the Mobile Action driver automatically comes in first preference.

Is there any way to override this?

Watch Question

What operating system are you runnnig? Have you tried uninstalling the product driver and then plugging in the bluetooth adaptor and letting the OS auto install the default MS driver (built in to the OS?)

Running Windows XP SP2.
Yes, I've tried uninstalling the product driver and plugging it again, it auto installs the Mobile Action driver which seems to be part of the OS.

You could try a custom windows update to see if their is a newer Microsoft driver on there to use for your adaptor. I have had problems with drivers from Windows update though, specifically graphics drivers, which can severely impact your system. However you should be fine with a bluetooth driver from there if one is available.
This is a guide on how to do that, may be vista specific though:
