We have an exchange 2003 organization and office 2003.
We have one user running on chache mode outlook on his laptop. When he tries to open outlook he gets :
Can not start Microsoft Office Outlook, unable to open Outlook.  Window set of folders could not be opened.
I used his user Id and pasword to connect on one of the company's workstations and tired to access outlook.
I got "
unable to open your default email folders. The microsoft exchange server computer is not available.either there is network problems or the microsoft exchange server computer is down for maintenance. "

Any ideas ?

Are you running Outlook Web Access? If so can you log on as the user to this? Is there another computer that you know can connect to the Exchange server? Can you log on to this computer as the user who is having problems and connect through Outlook to his/her mailbox? If so check this: for his/her laptop. Can the computer browse to shared folders on the network?

download the tcpview from microsoft website and run on the exchange server. You can kill problem user name connection and try to connect the outlook client. Most probably the exchange server reached more than 5 MAPI connection from that user.
