Open up the properties for your GWIA, go to "Access Control" tab, select settings.  Look under any of your Class of Service policies to see if incoming SMTP is blocked.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.

Is the domain on a domain black list due to open relay or something?  If you trust the domain, try whitelisting all mail from it, and see if it will come through.

i see blacklist where do you whitelist a domain?

blcarter14Commented:
Whitelisting is problem the wrong terminoloyg, but rather setup an smtp relay exception.  It is under Access Control ->SMTP Relay Settings.  Add an Allow Exception for the domain.

Ok..
Can you describe your server layout, ie how many mail servers, what OS and mail software, and how are you relaying incoming / outgoing mail...ie. everyone sends to a GW box that sends to another mail server that sends out of your net.
Are your users having trouble sending from the GW mail client, from Web Access, or both?

zenworksbAuthor Commented:
it is a netware 6.5 box with groupwise 6.5 no problem at all sending out just incoming all on one box

i have found in verbose mode that when I send a message from outside on teh gwia it gives a 450 host down for the company domain the internal one and then it defers the message to a deffered folder. I am guessing they sit there fro a while then get flushed out why is teh groupwise server defering mesages of it own domain sent from outside?

Do you have a /etc/hosts entry for this server.  Also, do a DNS lookup from the server and see what it returns.  It sounds like a DNS issue, maybe your DNS is pointing to a public ip, even though it is on and internal connection?

i typed dns lookup and it said dns.nlm failed. what did you want me to type

zenworksbAuthor Commented:

i also found the host file an dthere is only a entry for out novell server noting about teh dns server or mail? what shoudl I add and where

Type NSLookup at the server console.  Then when the module loads it will allow you to enter an hostname.
Type:  ls -t MX jumpmen.com
This will give you the mail server record for you domain, it should be the DNS name for your mail server, like (gw.jumpmen.com or mail.jumpmen.com)
Then type this name in,( ie mail.jumpmen.com OR gw.jumpmen.com, whatever was returned in the last query)
Do you get back the internal ip of the GW server?  Type exit to close the module.

blcarter14Commented:
I'm not seeing an MX record for your mail server.  When I do an nslookup / dig for your domain I get the following:  208.116.28.58
But no MX (mail exchange record) seems to exist. Have you contacted your ISP to add an MX record for your domain?

zenworksbAuthor Commented:
ok again jumpmen is my personal account not the email system i am working on the system i am working on is a differnt name domain.com

blcarter14Commented:
ok, replace jumpmen.com with the domain name of the domain the GW box serves.
