Connection Problem With New LAN modem ( 3Com Model 3C892)

I just purchased this 3com 3C892 LAN modem new. I have hooked everything up as stated in the instructions. When I pull my web browser to get the wizard to set SPID numbers and access controls, it just says "page not found".  Im not running IE 3.1, I have IE 7, I also am not running Win95, I have XP home, and all the instuctions are for older software and OS versions. When I try to connect to the modem through 192.168.1.1(as the instructions suggest), absolutly nothing happens, it is connected, and it is powered up. But all it does is cycle, and tell me page not found. nothing more nothing less. Please help. Thanks.

Did you try this?

http://192.168.1.1/mainpage

Do the following command...

Start>run>cmd>

IPConfig

Is your IP Address in the 192.168.1.x range? If not, manually set the IP Address in Windows....
Look to the following section at the below link if you havent already. More than likely it is a simple communications problem regarding TCPIP not being configued properly...

Q. Upon initial set-up, communication between the LAN Modem and my computer cannot be established.

If you do get an IP address from the modem, but you still can't connect to it, you might try downloading and installing their latest firmware update for the modem.  Maybe that will re-create the configuration page.

ok, tried all that, nothing changed. Also i would like to note, the orange Alert! light on the modem is lit. know if this is because it has not been configured, or perhaps because somethignis wrong, im not sure.

Call thier tech support......
Thier tech support is useless...3com has a policy to only cover tech support on items 2 years from production date. This item was discontinued in 1999. So thier tech was unable to offer any help. :(
Sweeeet.....

Since this was purchased new, I would assume the warranty would still be good?
It was purchased new in box. But not from a licenced reseller. It was purchased on EBay. :(
How long ago did you buy this?  If you just bought it, have you tried contacting the seller?
