Problem backing up to a network share using NTbackup?

Hi Experts,

I am using NTbackup on a Windows 2003 server to backup my Exchange server.  I am backing up to a network share that is located on a usb hard drive attached to my DC.  When I run the backup manually it works fine.  However when I schedule it to run it fails with the following error:

Backup Status
The operation was not performed because the specified media cannot be found.

I checked to see if the task scheduler service was started and it is.  Why is this happening and what are my options?

what user are you using to run the backup? you might not have the drive mapped with that user.

admin
If you click on it in scheduler and choose run now does it work?
yes
generally, a 'network' drive is only available when a user is logged in, correct? aren't they profile specific?
I think you are right kristinaw.  Given that, is there a way to make this work
Is it possible to use task scheduler to run a batch file that would
1.  log in the admin
2.  run the backup
3.  then log out the admin

What would it look like?
is the usb hard drive attached to the dc because you are sending everything there? couple of options i can think of, easiest might be to just get a little usb drive for the exchange server (or something similar). I'm assuming you do not have enough space on the exchange server itself to write the file locally?
kris.
only one hd on the exchange server.  Actually I think that the backup program does login to do the backup.  When I schedule the job it asks for a username and password.
