cisco vpn cutting off internet conn

I have cisco vpn client version 4.9.00 on os x tiger 4.10.
I can connect to the remote vpn site fine via the vpn client.  however I loose all internet on my machine when I do this.  Is there anyway to fix this?

Enable split tunnels on the vpn device (at the server side)
