Phantom Printer

I am using a terminal server and I keep getting a deskjet printer installing itself as my default printer. We do not use desk jets. We use a Xerox. I delete the defaulted printer and it continues to re-appear.

Maybe you have the deskjet set up as the fallback driver on the server?

Here is some info on fall back drivers:

Does it appear in your local profile as well?

yes it appears on my local profile, but no one else seems to be having this problem, yet they use the same server.

If it is an HP Deskjet and you don't use it locally then uninstall the HP software and driver, if you do need to use it locally then just disable the software.

On an NT based system your TS profile and local profile share the same storage location for default printer info.  Because it is only one location whichever profile that writes to it last determines what both profiles see.  If you have HP printer software installed it will monitor your printer settings and continue reset the deskjet as default with the consequent knock-on effect on your TS default.
