Count total outgoing mail Exchange Server 2003

Exchange 2003
Version: 6.5.7638.1

Greetings:
I need a report of the total of the outgoing mail on our Exchange Server. Does exchange have such tools or is there a good third party software that I can purchase. One of the reasons we need this information is to aid in diagnosing mass-email viruses.

Thanks

First of all, you will need to enable the built-in "email tracking" feature of Exchange. This logs all mail handled by your Exchange server (received and sent) although if you don't already have it enabled you can't retrospectively go back at the logs before you turned it on. http://www.amset.info/exchange/message-tracking.asp

Also on Simon's website above is some links to recommended reporting software you can use to analyse the logs. There is a built-in method with Exchange System Manager but you can't produce any complex reports with it, just a list of mail sent and received with date/time and subject.
