    You can "test" the connection by supplying the root username and password.  If this works you have an issue with the cyrus user

    Okay, if that isn't working check the following Perl modules are actually installed: Cyrus::IMAP and Mail::IMAPClient .

    If they are not, both can be installed by running the command "perl -e shell -MCPAN" followed by "install Cyrus::IMAP" and "install Mail::IMAPClient".  This will also ensure you manage to install all the required dependencies as well.

    If you are unsure if they are installed or not do the following:
    cd /usr/lib/
    find . -name (Cyrus::IMAP)
    find . -name (Mail::IMAPClient)

    If you can't find either of these you will need to install the relevant perl modules as discribed above.

    i found (Cyrus::IMAP)
    then Installed (Mail::IMAPClient)
    still no love for user cyrus or root. and thanks again for your reply. i have been googleing all over and it seems that it works fine for everyone else.

    Check your imapd.conf file for the line similar to:

    admins: cyrus root

    And does the cyradm command work and allow you to connect to localhost and for example list users?

    Author Comment

    # grep -i admins: ./imapd.conf
    admins: cyrus tpadmin

    cyradm> listmailbox
    listmailbox: no connection to server
    cyradm> servername
    server: no connection to server
