32bit apache with 64bit mysql

Hello experts.

I would just like to ask if it is possible for a 32bit apache web server to be used with a 64bit mysql server? do i need to change the libraries involved or do they work perfectly without changing anything? may i ask some clarifications on this matter.

thanks a lot.

You need both 32bit libs and 64bit.
the 32bit libs are needed for apache, the 64bit libs for mysql. As mysql communicates via tcpi/ip or sockets the 32bit libs can communicate with the 64 Server as the communication protocol is independen of 32 or 64 bit

Are you running a windows or linux system?

Under 64bit windows you can run both 32bit and 64bit applications without a problem.

Under linux, for debian based distributions, you can install ia32-libs and it should solve all problems with console apps (32 bit gui apps are a bit harder to get working on a 64bit debian based distributions). But most (all?) 64bit linux distributions also come with 64bit apache server.
