Hi Marc,

Windows 2000 runs IIS 5.

Windows XP runs 5.1, 2003 Server runs 6.0, NT runs 4.0, and 2008 will run 7 (along with Vista, I believe).

The executables themselves have a range of versions, however probably the most interesting is the version on the inetinfo.exe file, that carries the version number for IIS (including minor versions).

Generally:

Windows 9x       PWS most recent version is PWS4
Windows NT4.0  IIS 2.0, 3.0, 4.0
Windows 2000    IIS 5.0
Windows XP       IIS 5.1
Windows 2003    IIS 6.0

Or you can do the following to make sure:

   1. Do a search for ASP.DLL on your system
   2. right-click it and select Properties
   3. Check the version tab:

            IIS 3.0 shows 1.x
            IIS 4.0 shows 2.x
            IIS 5.0 shows 5.0.2195.x
            IIS 5.1 shows 5.1.2600.x
            IIS 6.0 shows 6.0.3790.x

Let me know how you go.
