On SBS2003 Sharepoint 2.0 is "broken", Can I install Sharepoint 3.0 and get "companyweb" to work?

I have a SBS 2003 sp2 server.  The WSP 2.0 "companyweb" is not working and instead of going through the manual uninstall/reinstall process, can I install WSP 3.0 and get a default  "companyweb"that does work. I don't really care that WSP 20. doesn't work or why since there is not any data that I need to keep. Just a  "companyweb" that works.  We are in need of a company calendar and I hate to spend money on some of the 3rd party solutions when I should be able to make this work. I guess I should also let you know that I am not running the Exchange Server on the SBS 2k3.

You can install WSS v3 side-by-side on SBS 2003 but it's tricky. Also, once installed it won't have the functionality of "Companyweb" in that Fax Routing and similar integration won't work.

Here's a guide for you to use:

Thanks for the information link. So, If I understand you, I will be able to set up a shared calendar, but I lose the ability to setup the fax routing that we aren't using anyway. Does the fax require an Exchange server to route incoming faxes? If we did use the fax, it would be outbound only.

if you don't care about your 2.0 installation, why not completely uninstall 2.0 and then do a fresh install of 3.0?

i think this may cause you less problems down the road.
Absolutely not. There is no benefit in uninstalling the v2 installation. None of the integration works with v3 anyway and you have the benefit of using alternate access url's with v3.
