IIS Configuration Backup - Possible?

Do Backup Exec 10.0 or 11.x allow you to backup Internet Information Services 5.0 and/or 6.0 web site configuration data (i.e., the application pools and web sites created in the IIS MMC and their associated settings)?

If so, do you mind walking me through the process?  I vaguely remember a setting in 11d referring to the IIS metabase (current organization uses 10.0).

All of the IIS config data for IIS5 is kept in a propriatary format metabase. IIS6 has a metabase that is pure XML. So long as you have the open file option you will be able to backup IIS5's config without an issue. IIS6 shouldn't be a problem as long as you tick the box to allow live edits of the metabase. Right click on the master website properties in IIS6 and the option will be there.

ajarvey,

Regarding IIS5, what file or files would I need to restore in order to restore the configuration information?

What files would I need to restore relative to IIS6?

Thanks for the quick response.

Everything in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\INETSRV folder for both versions should cover it. in addition to that, you should ahve a full system state backup to make sure your bases are covered with registry entries in relation to IIS.

ajarvey,

Thanks for the response!  I'll leave the question open for a while longer to see if anybody else has input.
