I am running Norton small business pack.

I tried to install the hotfix previously but it is already included in the SP.

I did see that the service was set to manual, so I've set it to automatic and will monitor it.  Seems odd that having it on manual would cause it to only intermittently fail.

On my own business server, it's set to manual but I use NTBackup under accessories instead of configuring it under SBS and have not had these kinds of failures. I wonder if that is somehow a factor.

I have had two successes in a row, one before I changed the service to automatic and one after.  I will monitor and see if I can three in a row.

I have had three successful backups in a row!  One more and I will declare success!
