TightVNC keeps asking for valid password
Hi All
I have installed tightVNC and started it as a service..I have also set and reset the password a couple of times. I have installed tightVNC on a Windows2003 server using the Admin account.
However when I try to logon to the server from my PC using tightvnc viewer I keep getting the following error :
"This server does not have a valid password enabled. Until a password is set, incoming connections cannot be accepted"

under vnc service server property mode check that vnc password authentication is enable.Otherwise, try to uninstall and reinstall the software...

I just uninstalled TightVNC and purchased RealVNC and installed it, RealVNC is working fine under the same conditions. It is a shame TightVNC used to work always. This was critical since we were having probs with terminal services on a remote server and there was a chance that we could get locked out.
That's odd... and you're using the newest version? Haven't had any problems with it (so far)

Yep downloaded it right from sourceforge

Copied the HKEY_Current_User to the following location. I have blanked out my passwords but under password and passwordviewonly is were the Binary settings are. After you have set your VNC password then copy the Hex key and past it under the password and passwordviewonly keys

use the new version of TightVNC if you are using Windows7 64-bit. The version that worked for us was 2.0.2.
