Hi everyone.

I know i am more than likely being a bit dense, but i need to know if and how i can get a SQL database to work on Windows Server 2003, Web Edition.

I tried to install MSDE 2005 Express, but say I can't.

Any help would be appreciated.

According to Microsoft you can install the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. This should not be confused with MSDE which is based on SQL Server 2000. Check out this link for the limitations of Server 2003 Web Edition:

When you say that you tried to install 2005 Express Edition, did it fail with an error message?

Thank you all so much for your help.

I think i should not work on things like this at 1 in the morning...  Brain shuts off...

The error is You do have the right service pack on your server.

I looked last night and was unable to find the service pack or anything to state that it could run on Web Edition.  So now i know for sure it can, i will install the new service pack and see what happens.

    thank you
