Event Viewer error - old domain account referenced in registry

i am occasionally seeing the following error in the Event Viewer application
log of my MOSS 2007 server

source: VSS
event id: 13
description: the user name domainname\oldsharepointsearchaccount specified
in registry (system\currentcontrolset\services\vss\vssaccesscontrol) does
not map to a real user name.  The entry is ignored.

from the data at the bottom of the error, i can see that it is referring to
msssearch.exe and user domainame\sharepointservicesaccount  ... which is
confusing because the text of the error refers to

domainname\oldsharepointsearchaccount is an old account that is no longer

how do i correct the error?  do i just delete the registry key that points
to the old account?
