BGInfo

Currently I am using BGInfo to display the ip address, host name, etc of each pc. I need to take away administrator and power user access to all users. Is there a way to force the user's default background to a black screen and use bginfo in white color without having these permissions?

I can probably force a background using GPO. I guess the reason for this question is because I do not know what perms users need to have to change the background.

Here is the sample of my bginfo script.
C:\BGINFO\Bginfo.exe /ic:\bginfo\sample.bgi /timer:0

When bginfo runs, it throws an error

BGINFO

error creating the output bitmat file
c:\windows\:
The system cannot find the path specified.

Please Ensure the path exists and you have permission to write it.

You can select a different output path for the bimap using the bitmap|location menu item.

(When I select a different location it throws the same error)
Ok, so now when I save the bitmap I am putting it in c:\bginfo\bginfo.bmp and it is working I just want to make sure that it will work for all users regardless of permissions.
it should do as long as you havent got a desktop wallpaper forced you might want to stop users from being able to change the the desktop wallpaper
Nice, I didn't know you could do desktop customization such as background color and wallpaper etc from the BGINFO program. The problem I am having now is that I customize BGINFO to the specs I like then copy the bginfo.exe, config.bgi, shortcut to launch program which is listed above to another pc. WhenI run from that pc it seems like I have to set all the custom settings up again. How do I make a master template of how I want it to look and then apply that across the organization?
all i do is copy the program and the cfg to the root and then put the bat file in the all users startup folder. so when whoever logs on it runs it.  glad you managed to get the background sorted tho
