How to work around the limitation of 256 color in Terminal Services - is there an ActiveX type of fix?

I am running an application, Epicor that uses the Crystal Reports XI runtime.  We are using it in a Windows 2000 Terminal Server environment.  When we attempt to look at Crystal Reports they show a black screen.  We can print and export the file and it is in the correct format.  I have seen many articles on the web about this being a known issue and having to do with ActiveX.  I cannot find something that shows me exactly how to fix this problem.  Any ideas?

If memory serves, this has been fixed in a later service pack or hot fix.  Make sure you are running the most recent version.

The protocol (rdp 4.0) used in Windows 2000 has a limitation of 256 colors. You cannot upgrade the protocol. One option is to upgrade to Windows Server 2003.

There is not an ActiveX fix.

You can buy and install Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 that uses a different protocol (ICA) and can be configured to use 24-bit color.
