How do I run this .FLV file?

I converted an .AVI file to .FLV.   How do I run it on the web?  What code do I modify here:

<html>
<body bgcolor=#000000>
<center>
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="1024" height="604">
  <param name="MOVIE" value="MonthlyReportDemonstration.swf">
  <param name="QUALITY" value="HIGH">
  <param name="BGCOLOR" value="#000000">
     <embed src="MonthlyReportDemonstration.swf"
            quality="high"
            type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
            bgcolor="#000000"
            width="1024" height="604">
          </embed></object></center>
</body>
</html>

You can't just embed a flv into HTML, it has to be played through an swf file.

http://www.arronsfootball.co.uk/flvplayer.swf, is a basic flv player you can download to your server and use

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="350"

wmode="transparent" data="flvplayer.swf?file=<THENAMEOFYOURFLV.flv>&autoStart=true">

<param name="movie" value="flvplayer.swf?file=<THENAMEOFYOURFLV.flv>&autoStart=true" />

<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

</object>

Sorry for not being more clear, but you should use the following code to embed the swf player.

Hi al4629740:

I guess you used SwishVideo!

To quickly test and demonstrate how this all works - upload to your server the three files that SwishVideo created:

MonthlyReportDemonstration.html
MonthlyReportDemonstration.swf
MonthlyReportDemonstration.flv

Then access the page by typing http://www.mydomain.com/MonthlyReportDemonstration.html

Obviously you need to change the "mydomain.com" to your real address.

The page will load and then you FLV file will start playing.

The SWF is a wrapper (like a player) for your FLV file.

Just upload the three files and try it.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

When I load only :

MonthlyReportDemonstration.html
MonthlyReportDemonstration.swf

it works also.  Why is that?  What is the .flv file for?

Did you convert to SWF or FLV output in SwishVideo2 ?

The option is set in the final Publish part of the program.

When I convert to SWV I get two files:

MonthlyReportDemonstration.html
MonthlyReportDemonstration.swf

Those files work fine.  However I'm curious when I convert it to FLV, I only get one file:
MonthlyReportDemonstration.flv

How do I use this file when I am converting to .FLV?

Actually you get three files - it is overwriting the SWF and HTML - try saving the (Publishing) the FLV move with a different name, set the controls to "minimalist" in the drop down at the bottom of the Publish page - you will then see three files (HTML, SWF and FLV) the SWF file is a wrapper that will play the FLV file. You will get better results using FLV than with just the SWF file.

Hey Frindo thanks for your recent help with my problem -- and I think you're on the money here. But I followed your link and only found the player itself -- no download. I think what needs to be explained is that al4629740 needs to download a file called flvplayer.swf and place it in the same directory as his html page and his FLV file. The FLV should be the actual video converted in an FLV converter -- like Riva or even Super or whatever -- also as your code indicates. The actual download for the JW player that you recommended is here: http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Player
You just download the zip file -- unzip it and simply copy out only the flvplayer.swf file and upload it to your directory.
My rough explanation of what happens is your flash video, which is now in flv format needs a player with controls to work properly, so the code in your html page tells it to go and grab the JW player, which is the flvplayer.swf file.
