comments in Crystal Reports

Hi there,

When I am trying to create new formulas for the new fiscal year. However when I copy the formula from previous year it takes the value as if it was a comment. For example

This is the formula for 07 (SEP 07)
========================
if {@Year Selection} = '2007'
and Month ({BU_SFA_DETAIL2.invoice_dt}) = 9
then {BU_SFA_DETAIL2.quantity} else 0

Updated formula for the new year that is 08 (SEP 08)
========================
if {@Year Selection} = '2008'
and Month ({BU_SFA_DETAIL2.invoice_dt}) = 9
then {BU_SFA_DETAIL2.quantity} else 0

When I copy this formula as a new formula for the new year (SEP 08), it takes the '2008' and turns it green as if it was commented. I have never seen this before and not sure what's causing it to treat it as if its a comment.

Anyone has experienced this same problem before?

Thanks

Are you using Crystal syntax or Basic.
In Basic syntax the ' starts a comment.

You should change to Crystal.

You can  set Crystal syntax as the default through FILE --> OPTIONS

Thanks for your help. The comment is gone....however I created atleast 60 new formulas with the basic syntax. Even after changing the default to Crystal when I edit the formulas (the new ones that I created) it opens in Basic syntax....do I need to go one by one to change the syntax to crystal for each formula?

I believe once a formula is created you must change it to use a different syntax.

Yeah, I ended up changing all the formulas from Basic Syntax to Crystal Syntax and now it works fine. Thanks for your help!
