Monitor services on a Windows box in a DMZ

Can anyone recommend a good (and hopefully free) tool for monitoring critical services running on a Windows box in a DMZ.  We'd like to be sent sms/email alerts when a service stops.  And better yet, if it can restart the service.

We've tried OpsManager but can't seem to get it to work through the DMZ.

Have you looked at Hobbi t monitoring ?

Also you can set the service to restart automatically , in the properties of the services under the 'Recovery' tab you can set conditions on 1st , 2nd , 3rd and subsequent failures and also let's you run certain commands/programs on the event of the service faliling
