Attaching PST files to Entourage

Hi All
I have a Mac and i am using entourage instead of office. i have 5 pst files i would like to attach and search. The pst's are emails and not contact and calendars. I do not want to inport it into my active email account but would only like to search them.

I am not sure you can do that.  If you want to search them, you are going to have to import them into a e-mail account of some sort, even if it means creating one specifically for the purpose.

See:  http://www.entourage.mvps.org/cross_platform/win_mac.html

NO .. there is NO integration between PST files and Entourage .. you can either IMPORT them using the wizard or give up .. I'm afraid.

While MS developed Office for Mac it never made a full Outlook or Access alternative (Entourage is a poor relative of Outlook).
While Entourage works with Exchange servers (just about) much of the functionality is unavailable.

MS products on the Mac also lag well behind their Windows versions.. as proven by the fact we are stuck on Office 2004 on the Mac .. until next year at least.

Transaction-level recovery for Oracle database

Veeam Explore for Oracle delivers low RTOs and RPOs with agentless transaction log backup and transaction-level recovery of Oracle databases. You can restore the database to a precise point in time, even to a specific transaction.

If i import, does this go back into my information store or does it inmport into a MAC pst version?

Today I transferred email from Outlook Express Windows XP SP2  to OS X Tiger's Mail.app. This is how I did it.

1. Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird. Current version is 1.5.0.7.
2. Launch and choose to import from Outlook Express. (Clean up the Outlook folders and empty the trash first.)
3. Copy the mail folder to the mac from the Thunderbird profile folder. I used a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
4. Add .mbox to all the files inside the mail folder you just copied that don't already have an extension. I used A Better Finder Rename for this.
5. Launch Mail.app and choose import from the File menu.
6. Select Netscape/Mozilla and go!

I hope this helps someone, because I had trouble following all the other tutorials. And I hope someone who goes thru this process fills in all the little details that I left out (such as the default directory of the mozilla profiles folder and the extension of the mozilla mail index, etc.)

If Entourage will import the contents of a PST into an "account", can't you just set up a new account for Entrouage to import into and not configure an email serivce, just a PST for local storage ... I know you can do this in Outlook.  Then when you import it would go into the Entouage PST or loca store and not into a server based email storage.  I think this is what you are trying to do.  Once you have it in the Entouage local store then I would expect you can go back to your other "account" and open and access the store that you just imported the PST contents into.

Unfortunately I do not have a copy of Entourage to try this with ... or a Mac for that matter.

Use an Exchange server and you have no problem.  Connect to it with a Mac or PC and you can read the data.
