Dear experts,
Just like in Oracle , using SQL Server , can i restore or export only the tables i need from and into a database?I guess by using DTS, is it? How owuld i create a dump file of only few tables, is it possible?
If so , how would i import (restore) just those tables from the dump file ?

Also, What is a good tool to do a strructural comparision between two SQL Server Databases and between a SQL Server and a Oracle database?

you can't really restore tables, unless you add them to a diffrerent filegroup.  Your possible options will be to use DTS/SSIS/ import export / bcp.

I dont really knows any such tool, but if you can convert the Oracle db to SQL, thn you can use  red-gates sql compare tool

You can restore a database in SQL Server. You could restore only a few tables, but the tables have to be in their own filegroup.

Yes, the standard way to move data between tables is using DTS (SQL 2000) or SSIS (SQL 2005).

You could create a filegroup and restore from that filegroup.,289483,sid87_gci1268513,00.html

There are many tools available to check the database structure. They are not free. SQL Server comes with a diagram tool, but I do not believe that it would work on Oracle in Windows. You could buy a Enterprise edition of Visio, that uses ODBC.
