Unable to view emails in my archive folder

Windows Xp/ Outlook 2003
I recently archived my emails in outlook.  When it archived the emails, it created the archive folder but when I open it there is nothing there.  Is there another step to viewing archived messages?

Thanks

Are you sure you've opened the right archive folder?  The PST file normally resides in "\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst"

The steps you've taken so far (opening the pst file) are normally enough to display messages, so it seems most likely that you're looking at the wrong file.

If not, can you see any folders in the archive?  Perhaps you have a view that's only showing Unread Messages? (or otherwise filtering out the content).

The only thing that is under the archive folder is Deleted iterms and search folders.  Nothing else is there.  I haven't changed any settings.  This is what I got when I did the archive.
Also, the folder was created in outlook.  Does it have to be linked to the archive.pst.

The file locations match.  Here's what I have setup for auto archive.
--set to run every 14 days
--prompt before it runs
--delet expired items(e-mail folders only)--not sure what that means but I left the default
--archive or delete old items
--show archive folder in folder list.

--clean out items older that 1 week
