mail setup help
I have a new installation of domino 8 on a windows 2003 server. It is not reachable from outside. We have external web site that has email server.
I would like to have our domino server do the following:
inbound mail
1. gather all pop3 email from external accounts and distribute to users.
outbound mail
1. if mail is addressed to internal users, then place in users internal mailbox.
2. if mail is addressed to external users, then forward to external mail server.
Is it possible to set up this way?

OK, thanks. The outbound is probably the most import, though. Here's an example:
1. our external email is user@mydomain.com
2. our internal email is user@mydomain.local (note that "mydomain" is the same value)
3. when I send email to bob@mydomain.com I would like the domino server to route the mail to bob@mydomain.local (keeping internal user outbound email on the domino server) while sending email to external users, joe@anothercompany.com, goes out normally.
Any help appreciated.

Have you set up your Foregn Domain, and Internet Domain Docs yet ?
Did you read the Section in the Admin client help regarding how to set up Internet mail in Notes ?
The Domain settings should be able to handle the translation, and also do the outgoing translation so that it appears from
user@mydomain.com
I hope this helps !

Isn't the notes client limited to one email acount? I've never seen a way to set multiple accounts in notes. So if I set the client to get POP3 mail from an external server, how am I going to get the internal mail from the domino server?
They can switch to different accounts via the Location documents in the lower right corner.
You set up the POP account, and then set up a New Location doc just for that POP account.
Why don't you just have them forward from the POP account directly to the Notes account ?
I hope this helps !

The notes account is not available to the outside world.

This solution is only available to members.
To access this solution, you must be a member of Experts Exchange.
Normally, each POP3 account has a Username and password.
You can tell the Notes Client to use POP3 to get mail, but not the server.
Read the Client Help on how to set up a POP3 account.
