XP porfile editor lock down

how do I stop user from installing there own programs on windows xp pro?


how can do this locally and also how do I do this when they log into the network??

As long as you don't make users local admins or power users on the machines then you should be set.
Setup each user as a limited account. This will prevent them from being able to install programs on the computer. This will work both locally and as a member of a domain (network).

NOTE: They will still be able to use portable applications and run executables locally on their profile.
