Revisit "I want spaces, not tabs" - Dreamweaver 8

Hello,
In Dreamweaver 8, when Auto Indent is selected and after hitting Enter, tabs are automatically inserted on the next line to align the new line's indentation to the previous line.   The number of tabs inserted depends on preferences-->code format-->Indent & tab size settings.  I get that.  What I want is for spaces to be inserted instead of tabs after hitting Enter.

I realize that this question is similar to a previous question (20902110) regarding DW MX some years ago but my question is with regard to Auto Indent after hitting enter, not with having spaces inserted when the tab key is pressed.  I don't remember how MX handled this but I'm hoping DW8 may provide a solution.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi trallax,

I don't have 8 installed anymore, but CS3 shows the following under Code Format:

Indent [] with ______ spaces

Tab Size: 4

So it looks like enough people complained about the tabs that they fixed it in CS3.  However, there is no way to change it in 8.

Hi Sage,
I guess I'm not keeping up with latest revisions on my many, many applications...is CS3 the latest version of Dreamweaver?

Sage,
Nevermind, I see from the Adobe website that I will probably need to upgrade to CS3 to get the feature I am looking for.

Thank you for pointing me to the "fix".

Don't upgrade to CS3 for this one thing.  It's not a cheap upgrade...
