how to add new media to a new media set

I recently was assigned the wonderful duty of taking care of one of our subsidiaries environments. They use Backup Exec 10D. I'm used to using Arcserve. My problem is this; I have a current backup routine that starts a backup at 6 PM, using media set 1 on a single powervault 110 Tape drive. So it is basically evening backups to media set 1 this set has about 20 tapes in it. I've created a new media set named media set 2 (I know VERY creative) for a new and additional backup routine. This routine will backup a backup-to-disk to tape. This job will run every day at 9AM. I've ordered 20 new tapes in order to have a different tape for every day of the week. I've inserted the first tape and now I want to add it to the media set 2. How do I do this? I've looked at help in backup exec, and searched for importing tapes but not any of those are relevant or are vague at explaining this. Thanks in advance and of course please let me know if you have a need for any additional info.

    go to the MEDIA TAB in Backup Exec
    the go to ONLINE MEDIA and select the media that you want to associate with the MEDIA set
    right click and select the option to MOVE TO MEDIA SET and move it to the concerned media set
    You can DRAG and DROP the media to the concerned MEDIA SET

    Accepted Solution

    also we do not recommend that users allocate the media manually to a media set
    let the job it
    when u configure a job,in the JOB PROPERTIES on the left hand side click on DEVICE AND MEDIA
    u will see the pane where u can select the target device (DEVICE) and below that u will see a MEDIA SET
    click on the drop down on the MEDIA SET and select the appropriate media set that u want the tapes to be associated with
    leave all 20 tapes in the  lib in the SCRATCH media set
    the job will run and use whatever tapes it requires and automatically associate it with the media set that you have specified within the job thus protecting the tape for whatever period u have specified for the media set properties
    for more information refer to the MANAGING MEDIA  section of the ADMIN guide
