VMWare Workstation 6 Logout and keep VM's online

I was wondering if there was a way that when you log off the account that you bring up the VMWare Workstation 6 so that way your VM's are still running even though no user is logged on to the host machine.

If you have any question feel free to ask.

You will need to use VMWare server for this functionality. Or run it on windows 2003 in a terminal server session.

that is all.

I thought VMWare Server is a free product and since you pay for Workstation that it would have the feature rather than the Server version. I also heard somebody mention that you could do this if you log in on a local account and it should work rather than using a Domain account??

Well I hate to say it but you thought wrong there. The server version is designed to just run the virtual machines - whereas the workstation version lets you create/modify/use while running other applications.

Looks good and all, how do you go about setting it up so it works that way, I just logged out any my VM wasn't available to log into. is there a setup process you have to go through?

Let me re-phrase the statement.... I logged out of my host machine and wasn't able to remote log into my virtual machine. But when I am logged in my host, I can remote into my virtual machine. How do you set up the VMWare service?

Are you using vmware server now or workstation?

Using VMWare Server - Under Virtual Machine Settings -> Options -> Startup/Shutdown
Is where you set the options for start-up and shutdown.
