Spooler Service crashing constantly, WinXP

I have a user whos spooler service is crashing anytime you try to do anything in the printer and faxes folder.  This includes trying to go to File >Server properties, trying to remove a printer, trying to right click a printer to go into the properties or trying to install a printer.  If I just restart the service and dont touch anything then it will crash on its own within 2 minutes.

System is XP sp2 with all updates

So far I have tryed:

-Windows Updates
-Checked the dependencies (RPC and that is not crashing)
-Checked the Event Viewer (ID 7031 and 7034 under system, and App faults under application log.

There seems to be numerous questions like this on here and I have went to the following site
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm
but i cannot uninstall the printer drivers due to the spooler service crashing everytime I right click a printer or go into the server properties.

Have you tried rebooting the server then going in immediately to unistall the driver?

What about booting into safe mode and trying to remove the driver? Or, booting into safe mode, immediately shutting down the spooler service, and then uninstalling the driver?

ASKER

I will give the safe mode a try

Just an FYI, I tryed a system restore and rolled the system back 2 days, still the same results.

The problem is when I try to uninstall the printers the spooler service crashes, and I cannot remove the printers without the the spooler service running on the xp machine
Here's an article from Microsoft on how to remove printer drivers in the event that spooler crashes. Has some steps to follow for yanking the print drivers.

Error Message: Spoolsv.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be Closed by Windows

I understand, but did safe mode allow any better results?
LOL...Guess so.
