testing locally with links and images using relative links

Hello, I'm wondering if there is anything I can setup in either my Coldfusion administration or using Dreamweaver so I can use absolute links while viewing images and testing links locally on a development coldfusion development server.

For example I have a logo that I set so when clicked it would be /index.cfm which would point to my index page under my folder IE : http://localhost:8500/

When I click it of course I get a missing page message because it's pointing to the very root of the folder which would be : http://localhost:8500/index.cfm which causes a 404 File not found: /index.cfm error but I know that if I post the page on the live server it would then link to the home page.

I guess I'm just trying to get as much use and testing on my local development server as possible so I can test there before launching live pages.

You can always set a variable in the request scope (I like 'imagedir') and set that to your image directory which you could change by hand before deployment.

Is there some reason why you want to use absolute links?  It's likely going to be a lot of work maintaining those links.
