Missing dll file during installation
Hi,
I am trying to install windows XP MCE 2005.
During the installation i am prompt for a file called ehiepg.dll which is supposed to be on CD2 of MCE, under e:\CMPNENTS\MEDIACTR\I386.
I have 2 original copies of XP MCE and the file does not appear on either of them.
If i cancel the request, it installs the regular windows XP without the MCE addon...
Does anyone have a copy of this file or a solution?

Is this a genuine copy of MCE? I have seen this error relating to hacked CDs
What kind of computer is this? Are the CD's full cd's or recovery cd's.
The file would have .dl_ at the end of it instead of .dll. I have seen installation problems on computers when there was an issue with bad memory. If you have access to another computer you may want to download this: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp Windows Memory Diagnostic. Follow the instructions to make a boot floppy or cd image and then boot and run an extended test. If anything fails at all then memory is your problem.

ASKER
It's an original OEM version and the memory seems to be fine.
Anyway, eventually i found the file on the web and it worked: http://www.abscomputer.biz/Pub/Support/Microsoft/WinXP/SP2/i386/root/cmpnents/mediactr/i386/
Thanks anyway...
