QuickBooks printing problem - not printing invoices
I recently installed QuickBooks Pro2007 on a new laptop. At first, I was able to print invoices without any problem using a 24-pin to USB adaptor on an older Canon printer. Then in the last couple of weeks, I kept getting messages that the printer was off-line when there was nothing wrong with the connections. I assumed it might be a problem with the adaptor (I had heard they were not always reliable) so I bought a new HP Deskjet printer. Now I can print reports (so it's not a printer problem) but, when I go to print invoices, nothing happens. I have posed this question in the QuickBooksCommunity forum, but have not seen any satisfactory solutions so I thought I would post it on EE, where the real experts are. Can anyone help with this one?
awking00,
How are you doing?

The system I use that is having the problem is at my vacation home and not the one I receive my EE messages on, so I haven't had the opportunity to test your comments yet. I will be doing so this weekend and will surely let you know. Thanks.
Not a problem, just wanted to follow-up... Have a great weekend!

Nothing happens when I click on either the print icon or the template print preview. I also clicked on the customize, manage templates and nothing shows in the print preview there, either. I also tried to download an invoice template, but when I opened it, no print preview showed there as well.
I have the same problem. I'm using Quickbooks Pro 2007 with XP. I can print everything else in QB's except invoices. I contacted Intuit and after trying to do a re-install along with copying and pasting the Data1 file in the pcconig file, it is still not working. I tried deleting and replacing the qbpprint.dll also. Nothing is working. Any other ideas?
I had not installed anything prior to this happening. I used QB's the day before and it was fine. The next morning I tried printing an invoice and it wouldn't do anything. Can't even get to the print preview screen. But if I click on reports, I can easily print them.

oakisle, thanks for the statement. Misery loves company, but I wish someone out there could help. I have been on other forums and it seems that there are a lot of cases where invoices won't print (or preview), especially with Windows Vista OS. I would be glad to increase the point value for a good solution.

SequimPC,
Thanks for your response. The system I'm having the problems with is as my second home and I'm not sure when I will next have a chance to test this, but will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks.

You are welcome.
Any update on your printer yet?

SequimPC,
I finally got to my second home to try out your suggestion. Unfortunately, with rather unsatisfactory results.
>># For QuickBooks 2007: Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Quic kBooks 2007<<
Although I have Windows Vista OS, I am only showing C:\ProgramFiles\Intuit\Qui ckBooks 2007
>>1. Locate the QBPRINT.QBP file and delete it.<<
The file QBPRINT.QBP is nowhere to be found (I did a search of the entire hard drive).
Subsequently, selecting File, PrinterSetup, and a Form_name from the menu after starting QuickBooks did not create the QBPRINT.QBP file, either.
Any other ideas?

Finally, I got it to work! Since both of the accepted responses were required, I decided to increase the points and split them. Thank you, SequimPC and piece 10.
issue i had: couldn't print from Quick books, but could print from other applications.
trouble-shoot with the ideas above, but didn't work.
I went into properties of the printer i was trying to print to under the Advanced tab changed the processor and it worked.

I love you!!!
This solution worked for me on XP with QB 2007. Thank you infinitely!

I tried all the Fixes above that were Recommended and Solved everyone else's issues...but it would not work. I had a Shared USB OkiData ML490 sitting on XP Pro PC and Shared out to a Vista (32-Bit) PC. It would not print Invoices from Quickbooks 10 (Manufacturing and Warehouse version), but would print Test page from Printers Options. I read NetworkLogic1705 resolution but it was vague...? I tried it and did Not know what he changed inside Processor, as there were other Printer Options in there. I kept mine at Winprint (something like that in the left side) and then in the Right Hand window selected the other RAW Option (1st was default, so I selected 3rd RAW option....forgot the full name). Now it is printing Invoices from QBs again.
well it for sure wasn't that - I had my laptop out and I use Wireless Mon to evaluate all signals in area - Ch 1 had only this Linksys - Ch 6 had a bunch and Ch 11 had a couple... And it worked on Ch 11...
sorry - wrong post...
This may sound like a silly "did you check", but here it goes anyway...
While in Invoices - click on the print icon and check to make sure you selected the "new HP printer" - also verify that the template you are using is valid, by check through "Print Preview". If you don't see anything there, there is obviously nothing to send to the printer... fix the invoice template.
Let us know how you are doing!
