Repair Connection in Vista will not work...

I'm running Vista Ultimate. The NIC is a on-board NIC NForce2.  I have Linksys cable modem and Linksys Wireless VOIP (Vonage) router. No new drivers, or firmware for either. For about 2 months now I've had to unplug both and replug to get on the net. The Repair Connection will not work that is in Vista. I see 2 NICs and I only have 1.  Doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks

Have you tried deleting both NICs in Device Manager and letting a reboot reinstall the device?   (Start orb -> type devmgmt.msc in the Run or Search dialog box off the Start Menu and hit the Enter key.)

I have tried everything that I can think of. No good on any of it. The wireless side is working fine, but the hardwired side no good. Router to NIC that is.
Thanks

Well, there are some routers are not compatible with Vista.  There are some routers that have trouble with Vista, as detailed in this MS article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;928233
Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers

I'm not sure from how you described it which is yours, but see if this page is of any help:

Thank you for the link.  My  WRTP54G  Wireless-G Broadband Router With 2 Phone Ports for Vonage was on the list that Vista works with Vista. Something has to be changing when I reset both modem and router. It can't be the IP because it's static. I have run the router/modem  with Vista for about 4 month now, but something changed about 2 weeks ago. I am on my laptop right now, upstairs and the router is downstairs the laptop is running wireless, so I know the wireless side is working. Our phone  works and that is part of it too. All of it works, but the wired side as I mentioned before.
Thanks

I just founf this at the Vonags website and maybe this is what happened to me with a glitch.

Linksys WRT54GP2

How do I update my phone adapter?

As long as your device is connected to the internet and communicating with a Vonage server, your device will automatically upgrade to the latest firmware when it is available.

It could be power management of NIC, try to turn that off see if it works better?

You wont need to update phone adapter, because there is no such update. You can however update your router firmware. I would also check the modem setting up see if it has problem. This you can call your internet service provider and ask them how to diagnostic the modem.

I got it going by using one of my WMP54G wireless adapters. I completely took the CAT 6 out and set the WEP up and she is going it on the net now. I guess it was the router on the hardwired side.
Thanks for all of the help...
