Hitting Enter creates a new paragraph

Dreamweaver CS3 has this annoying habit of inserting a new paragraph whenever you hit Enter. I would like it to just enter a new line, not a new paragraph. I'm tired of always hitting Enter and then having to go into code view and taking out the <p> tag. Is there a way to configure it so that when I hit Enter, it just goes 1 line down, not 2 lines down? I thought I could go into Edit \ Preferences to find the setting, but I couldn't find it.
