I would like to create a database in SQL server that will support both english and foreign language.

Most of the database will be in english, but i would like to create a couple of tables that will store text in a Foreign language. I will also need the ability to search these tables  in the native language that they were stored in.

    Accepted Solution

For storing text use nvarchar datatype. This stores it as unicode data which is used for storing multilingual data.

    Assisted Solution

To add on to previous comment, I have a database in SQL Server 2005 which has all the FirstName, LastName and other personal information stored in nvarchar datatype. I see one of the record containing arabic name and when queried through query analyzer it shows in Arabic only.
Also checked through one of our search application written in C# and the datagrid shows that record in Arabic.

    Hope this helps....
