php to ASPX

I am used to work in PHP using PHP4.3/mySQL and DreamWeaver
One of my clients wants a new website using .NET technology
I have no exeprience in .DOT technology with MS SQLServer

- What solution should I choose: what are the programs to be downloaded ?
- What langage should I use (I heard that in .NET you can choose between c#, VB, JAVA...) ?
- I know that DreamWeaver also works with ASP pages: should I keep this (faboulous) editor for ASP pages ?
- what is the difference between .aspx and .asp extension ?
- Is there a PHP2ASP software translation or should I write it all from the beginning ?
- Where can I find some ASPX START tutorials for PHP programmers ?
Thanks
Best regards

Visual Web Developer Express is Microsoft's free ASP.Net IDE
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa700797.aspx
Besides that, all you need is .Net framework 2.0 installed and IIS.
If you stay on an Apache server, you'll need MONO (which allows asp.net to run on apache)

- What langage should I use (I heard that in .NET you can choose between c#, VB, JAVA...) ?
While MS does have a J# language; the majority of developers use VB.Net or C#.
The key thing to keep in mind is that all the .Net languages compile down into an intermediate language called MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) which is the same across all languages and what is interpreted by the compiler.
So the choice is a personal one.  VB.Net is usually easier/quicker to understand.
Many employers have the misconception that C# is "better".

- I know that DreamWeaver also works with ASP pages: should I keep this (faboulous) editor for ASP pages ?
Keep Dreamweaver for designing HTML...but don't use their "dreamweaverctrls.dll" port of .Net! It sucks, pure ans simple.  Use Dream for HTML, but do the server coding in either Visual Studio or Visual WebDevExpress.

- what is the difference between .aspx and .asp extension ?
The difference is in how the webserver processes the page.
Pages ending in *.asp will get processed by the classic asp isapi filter in IIS and *.aspx page get passed to the .Net framework driver.

- Is there a PHP2ASP software translation or should I write it all from the beginning ?
If you google "php to asp.net" or "migrating php asp.net"...some links come up...but I'd recommend re-writing.

- Where can I find some ASPX START tutorials for PHP programmers ?
The same google search above will return some "side-by-side" comparisons also

although there is a lots of code difference between asp and php
And no software can convert php to asp successfuly.

But u can try this , may be it will help u alittle bit :::
http://www.me-u.com/php-asp/
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-11051.html

 =============

To start .net development u need .Net Framework  and sql server 2000 installed on your computer.
If u can arrange .net Develop Environment software then its best as u can develop application more fast and accurate with it.

U dont need dreamwever if u have .net Develop Environment installed as it is having its own designer.

===============

ASP  is tthe old version of asp.net.
VB6 platform files are asp.
u can develop both (asp and asp.net) applications if u have asp.net installed.

================

u can develop asp.net applications with many languages like vb, c#, j# etc.

Vb is the simpleset language to program.
