Transfer from AppleTV to desktop

Hi all, I was in the process of installing external backup for my primary PC when the untinkable happened, total hard drive failure.  I can send it outt, but it will be between $500 and 2K to clone the drive.  Fortunately (I hope) my enitre music, movie and picture coolection was synced to my Apple TV just before the crash.  Does anyone know any utilities to replicate from an AppleTV back to desktop?  Thanks, I can live without anything else on the drive, but many of these files are irriplacable, so if I can't do this I'm out a chunk of money.

I think you can remove drive, put it in an external USB or Firewire enclosure, plug it into a Mac and copy whatever you want from it. The drive is formatted in Mac format, so it would be more difficult to copy to a PC.

There are also instructions here for installing an SSH server on the AppleTv which would, I think, allow you to copy files over the wireless or ethernet connection:

This link tells you how to activate the buit-in VNC server on the AppleTV:

Thanks.  Think I'm going with option A, and move it to a USB mount.  Guess while I'm in there I should up upgrade to a 160G drive too.
