Windows Deployment Services not displaying all images

We have recently started using WDS to capture and deploy images of our machines.

I've noticed that WDS will only display images that were created on the same hardware that I am trying to deploy to.

Eg: I have an Image for a D400 dell laptop, a D420 and a D430, and when trying to image onto a D410 none of these images are displayed.

This is a pain as we use several different laptop models, and I am getting pretty sick of installing windows XP over and over...

Am I missing something obvious? Is there any way I can convert my current images to be hardware un-specific?

Note: For any piece of kit, the base Vista images are all present. (I guess because they were not captured from an actual machine and hence have no hardware config).

Thanks in advance

I think that this is because WDS displays only those images whose HAL is compatiable with that machine.
