Citrix Roaming Profile Issue

This may be a really stupid question, but i'm going to ask anyway.

For roaming profiles, due to space issues, I would like to place on the C: drive of a citrix server, is that in fact possible?

I have 2 citrix servers that did not have load balancing on them before, everyone was working off one server.  I would like to implement load balancing, however, that will require roaming profiles so they see the same thing no matter where they log on.  Since all users were working off one server, I would like to use their existing profiles on citrix1 as their roaming profile.  I have placed the path to their profile on citrix1 on the terminal services profile tab.  It works fine for logon and logoff on citrix2.  On citrix1, where the roaming profile is pointing too, it's fine for logon, but seems to hang during logoff.

Any ideas why it would hang on logoff?  Problem writing to the files possibly?

Thank you in advance!

    Accepted Solution

Not sure but it's probably because....

When a user logs on to Citrix, the roaming profile is copied from the remote location (usually a network share) to the documents and settings folder on the citrix server.  Then when the user logs off, the changes to the profile are copied back to the remote location.  I think the problem in your case is that when Citrix1 tries to copy the profile changes back to the roaming profile location (the same place as they are now), the profile file are in use so it has a problem overwriting them with the changes.

The solution to your problem would be to host the roaming profiles at a location that isn't the documents and settings folder on citrix1.

Thank you!  I didn't realize the roaming profile was copied to the local docs and settings.
