Outlook marks messages as read when forwarded

I have a couple of users with blackberries, and have the exchange server forward their company emails to their blackberry email addresses.  When it does this, outlook marks the email as read, which the users don't want. I tried changing the settings in tools, options, other tab, reading pane button, and unchecked "Mark item as read when selection changes", but that didn't work. Is there a way to not have outlook mark an email as read?

Any reason why you aren't forwarding the messages at the server level or even better using a BES?

I am forwarding on the exchange server. I'm not sure what a BES is.

BES - Blackberry Enterprise Server.
That is what gives you the true integration with Blackberry and Exchange. The way that you are currently doing it the Blackberry is nothing more than a POP3 client - no live calendar, contacts etc over the air.

If you only have a small number of devices then there is a free Express Edition. Free for the first device and cost of the CAL for the additional devices, up to a maximum of 15 devices.

I didn't know BES stood for Blackberry Enterprise Server. We ruled that out because we only have about 5 people with Blackberries. However, I would say that the Express Edition would be something to consider. If that's still not an option, can you think of anything else I could try. Like I said, I am forwarding the email through the exchange server, and I couldn't find anything else to avoid their emails appearing as being read.

The messages shouldn't be read if you are forwarding at the Exchange server level.
