I'm trying to find out how to set privileges on the server so I don't have to login when I want to access a shared folder.

You need to create a user account on the server with the same username and password as the one you're using to log on to your workstation.  Give that account permissions on the shared folder.  When you access the shared folder, your workstation will first try to log in with your current username and password.  If there is an account with a matching username and password on the server, it will let you in without asking for a password.
